Do I need health insurance?

In order to join any of our tours you must purchase travel health insurance at the time of booking. If you have coverage through your credit card or private insurance, please provide proof. You will also be asked to sign a waiver indicating that you are in good health and understand the physical demands of the activities you will be participating in while on tour. While we go to great lengths to protect your health and safety, OYE! Tours, Majestic Tours or our Canadian or Latin American travel partners will not be held liable for any complications resulting from your participation on our tours.

I am traveling alone but would like to save the ‘single supplement’, can you find me a roommate?

OYE! Tours will do its best to pair you with a roommate of the same gender also traveling alone. We can’t make any promises except that we’ll try.

What is the demographic of the groups?

We have yet to define an age specific group and can’t foresee that happening anytime soon. So long as a participant feels they can handle the physical demands of the particular tour be it cycling or running, then age doesn’t matter.

For the cycling tours, will I have to bring my own bike?

Yes, you will have to bring your own bike; we do not rent or provide bicycles. Though your guides will be on road bikes (because that’s what we have), touring bikes, hybrids and mountain bikes are also welcome. We can provide packing tips and will be on hand at your destination to help you reassemble your bike. At the time of booking we will also be able to let you know if the cost of taking your bike will be covered by the airline or if there is an additional cost.

I want to go on a cycling tour but don’t want to be the one who holds the group back, any suggestions?

We have tours with less mileage that are designed for those who need to build up to epic rides or just need more rest breaks. We also break into groups so that everyone can ride at their desired speed. We begin our rides together and meet somewhere along the way so if you need to change groups, you have the choice. If you would like to join a tour with friends who are stronger riders, you always have the option of riding as far as you can with the group and then jumping into the support vehicle.

If I have never done yoga can I join the tour?

Though the tour is designed to cater to a variety of levels, we don’t recommend that absolute beginners join. We suggest you take a few classes to be familiar with the names of the postures and different styles of yoga before joining the tour. The instructor will always be ready to help you correct your posture and answer your questions; we just feel you’ll enjoy the retreat more if you have a general understanding of the practise of yoga.

What should I bring on the tours?

Once you’ve booked your tour, OYE! will send you a complete list of things to bring along with information you will need before departing for Cuba.

What currency should I take to Cuba?

Cuba uses the Convertible peso. At present the only place to exchange money is in Cuba. Canadian banks do not carry Cuban Convertible pesos. You can exchange money at the airport or wait until you get into town where you will get better rates.

What documentation do I need to travel to Cuba?

Canadian citizens need only a valid passport. A tourist card will be given to you with your airline tickets. Along with your passport, the tourist card is your main identification to Cuban airport authorities and must be guarded safely.

Is it safe to separate from the group while on the tour?

Cuba is a very safe country. You can walk freely through the neighborhoods we will be visiting on your own or in a group. Just use common sense and watch your belongings.

Can I drink the water in Cuba?

Cuba's water is safe to drink. Like in Ontario, the taste of the water differs from area to area but it is all good for consumption. Bottled water is readily available to purchase if you prefer.
